PRESS INFORMATION FROM READING MERCEDES SERVICE. READING MERCEDES SERVICE GIRLS IN THE PINK FOR SUE RYDER A sea of flashing pink bunny ears lit up the sky, as pink Stetsons joined forces with pink tutus as the clock struck midnight on Saturday 8th May to launch the 6 mile Reading leg of charity Sue Ryder Care's April to September countrywide Midnight Walk fundraising events at Green Park, just off Junction 11 of the M4. Taking their places amongst the 770-odd women attending, liberally applied pink warpaint and matching false pink eyelashes courtesy of UV Reactive of London at the ready, were Reading Mercedes Service’s – part of coachbuilder Binz UK - sales administrator Jools Thomas, and marketing administrator Julz Fox, who together raised over £300 in sponsorship for the Sue Ryder Care hospice in Nettlebed. For Thomas, taking her place on the walk was a personal way of saying thank you for the way that Sue Ryder had cared for her grandmother. “My nan, Betty, was looked after by them until she passed away in November of last year. The staff at Nettlebed do a great job and give families so much support at such difficult times, and I will definitely be doing this walk every year in her memory” she says. Julz Fox stepped in for marketing director Roberta Smith, who lost her mother in October 2009, and was unable to take part in the walk. Fox commenting that, “It was a fantastic atmosphere with exercises to get us all warmed up beforehand, marshals doling out plenty of water and sweets, with bands playing at certain points on route to keep us all going. It was a fun evening with so many women of different ages and wonderful outfits, with a goody bag and a congratulatory breakfast of huge muffins, croissants and steaming mugs of hot chocolate waiting for us at the finish line.” Employer Peter Smith, Binz UK's CEO, feels very proud to have these special people as part of his team, saying. “Giving to worthy causes is something we all do, but to give up your own time to both raise money and help heighten the profile of a charity like Sue Ryder Care takes commitment and dedication. Qualities that these two ladies have in abundance”.
